The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) prohibits discrimination and ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, state and local government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities, and transportation (ADA, 1990).

Diagnosis
The DSM-5 recently redefined autism. Previously, individuals could be diagnosed with Autistic Disorder, Asperger’s Disorder, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder (not otherwise specified); these now fall under Autism Spectrum Disorder.
